In a Hungarian translation by Dániel Varró, featuring video animations by Kiégő Izzók and introducing talented young singers, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s singspiel Die Entführung aus dem Serail (The Abduction from the Seraglio) returns to the stage of the Eiffel Art Studios between 24 and 31 May 2026. The production, intended for audiences newly discovering the world of opera, is conducted by Tibor Bogányi.

“Freedom and love” – these two forces drive the young Belmonte when he arrives at the estate of Pasha Selim in search of his abducted fiancée, Konstanze. His plans are hindered by the aggressive servant Osmin, while two friends come to his aid: Pedrillo and Blonde, who are being held captive alongside Konstanze, and whose young charm also causes Osmin’s heart to flutter. Miklós H. Vecsei’s 2021 production, aimed at younger audiences, unfolds within a highly imaginative projected environment brought to life by the team of Kiégő Izzók, renowned for their inventive visual solutions in popular music events as well.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s popular singspiel Die Entführung aus dem Serail, with its irresistible melodies composed by the 26-year-old Mozart, dazzling vocal virtuosity, humorous newly written dialogue by the director, and timeless reflections on freedom, love, fidelity, and forgiveness, offers a rewarding showcase for young singers. Artúr Szeleczki makes his debut as Belmonte. He is currently appearing as Don Ottavio in the Opera House’s production of Don Giovanni, and has previously sung Idamante in Mozart’s Idomeneo. The role of Konstanze is performed for the first time by Renáta Gebe-Fügi. A member of the Hungarian Opera of Cluj, she received special prizes at both the 2024 Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition and the Éva Marton International Singing Competition, and achieved great success stepping into the female title role of Pelléas et Mélisande during the Hungarian State Opera’s 2023 guest performances in Bucharest. Boglárka Brindás appears as Blonde for the first time. Following her studies at the studio of the Paris Opera, she has already won audience acclaim as Zerlina in Don Giovanni and as Susanna and Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro. Pedrillo ia performed for the first time by Balázs Papp, who, after numerous smaller character roles, is currently also appearing in the male leading role of Beauty and the Beast, while regularly performing as a young leading operetta tenor at the Budapest Operetta Theatre. Osmin is portrayed by the OPERA’s popular buffo bass László Szvétek, while the spoken role of Pasha Selim is performed by József Wunderlich, acclaimed artist of the Vígszínház. The Hungarian State Opera Orchestra and Chorus are conducted by the Liszt Prize-winning conductor Tibor Bogányi for the first time with the ensembles of the OPERA.

Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail is performed three times this season at the Eiffel Art Studios: on 24, 29, and 31 May. The production will return in the same form between 17 and 24 October for a further three performances.
